Every time Kamal Haasan celebrates this birthday, the occasion happens to be an effective juncture for the poor and needy. The actor turned 56 on Sunday (November 7, 2010) and as it happened with the previous times, the members of his Narpani Iyakkam organized several social activities that include blood donation camps, distribution of sewing machines, laptops, books, blankets, medicine and various useful materials for the needy people across the State.
Seeking the blessings of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalainyar M Karunanidhi, Kamal Haasan met him personally and spent few moments with him. Kalainyar has sang praises of Kamal Haasan saying that he has already achieved the greatest status as an artist and has contributed to his extremum for the elevation of Tamil Cinema and Arts.
As a token of expressing his wishes for Kamal Haasan, the well renowned artist AP Sridhar gifted him with couple of paintings. One of them is based on artist Moritz Von Schwind’s ‘The Violin Player by the Window’ while the other one was a classroom that has Kamal Haasan in different get-ups as students. It was a symbolization of Kamal Haasan’s various roles in films and ‘Avvai Shanmughi’ as the class teacher.
