Comedian Santhanam appears to be fast catching up with the likes of Vivek, Vadivelu, Karunas and ‘Ganja’ Karuppu. The star, who had entered the industry thanks to the popularity earned through a television show on a popular regional television channel, has acted with Dhanush, Simbu, Jeeva, Aarya and ‘Jeyam’ Ravi in his earlier movies.
Karthi is the next hero Santhanam would be seen with in ‘Siruthai’. Karthi is hailed as the ‘hat-trick’ hero as he has delivered three consecutive films starting with his debut film ‘Paruthiveeran’, Selvaraghavan’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ and following it up with Suseendhiran’s ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’. The film is directed by Siva, elder brother of actor Bala, who has also directed the Telugu version of ‘Siruthai’. Siva started his career as a cinematographer and then moved to direction.
Siva terms the film as a ‘mass entertainment’ with a fair degree of ‘emotional quotient’ and adds that the film has been shot with all the necessary ingredients required to make a ‘hit movie’. “Comedy, of course, is an integral part of the film,” reveals Siva.
While filming the comedy sequences, comedian Santhanam took many ‘takes’, not because of his inexperience in acting. Santhanam couldn’t control the laughter in the dialogues which made him continually laugh during the shoot. It was only after much difficulty that he could get the sequence right, he said. The sound engineer, who had dubbed the portions which have so far been shot, was full of ‘tears’ which was a statement in itself, feels Sia.
Unit sources say that Karthi was having a bash with the shoot and his partnership with Santhanam had come out as successful as his pairing with Tamannaah. The slim and svelte Tamanna rejoins Karthi after their successful outing early this year in Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyaah’.
‘Siruthai’ is all set to release in December, it is said.
