Director Vijay, who has had a hat-trick of hits in ‘Poi Solla Porom’, ‘Kireedom’ and ‘Madarasapattinam’, would be directing ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram in his fourth directorial venture titled ‘Deiva Magan’. The film would be pairing Vikram opposite the lanky and sexy Anushka Shetty, who has been on a roll in Tamil films after her super hit ‘Arundhati’ last year.
The film was launched recently with the Kannadiga girl Anushka in the lead. For Anushka, who is too tall to be a heroine and voluptuously built, her height has become her ‘main enemy’ vis-à-vis getting Tamil film offers as most of the heroes in Bollywood don’t measure up to her height in stature. While she finds offers pouring into her in Tollywood, the offers are far and few in Kollywood.
As most of the heroes have no other go but to use a six-inch-high stool while acting in close-up shots with the lanky heroine, they refuse to act with her in films and are accordingly instructing their directors and producers not to seek Anoushka’s call-sheet as heroine in their films. In the recent months, Anoushka must have lost at least 4-5 film offers in Tamil due to her height, observers point out.
Vikram, however, appears to have not such problems as director Vijay feels that both Vikram and Anoushka match each other in all aspects. Vikram plays a mentally challenged father who does his best while struggling to rescue his 7-year old daughter from the clutches of her kidnappers. Anouska, who plays an honest advocate, is Vikram’s heroine in the film.
The film is said to be an ‘adaptation of the Hollywood film ‘I’m Sam’ which released in 2001. Vijay was not available to confirm or deny this small piece of information!
