Mercurial and at times controversial director Selvaraghavan has reportedly hit a stumbling block in his career, sources close to him reveal. The director, who has the habit of taking off on a film and then calling it off, has done just the same with the film ‘Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’ which was to star Dhanush & Andrea Jermaiah in the lead.
The producer of the film, Chakravarthi of Nic Arts, decided to dump the project after no progress appeared to be brewing from Selvaa’s side. This, incidentally, happens to be the third such occasion when a film to be directed by Selvaa has been abandoned by the producer of the film.
Though Selvaa tried to make the film with producers Lingusamy, Udhayanidhi, Dayanidhi and Sun Pictures, he met with a negative response from all of them as they had been ‘aware’ of the style of film-making of Selvaa and didn’t want to take the risk. Selvaa can’t produce the film on his own due to financial problems.
Meanwhile, the Telugu film Selvaa was to direct with Rana Daggupati in the lead has also been abandoned for various reasons. To top it all, the Tollywood producer has asked Selvaa to return to him the Rs.2.5 crore paid to him as fee to direct the film.
