With no films starring top stars appear to be releasing on Deepavali this year, the Dhanush-Genelia starrer ‘Uthamaputhiran’ takes the cake as a film which has a saleable hero and an acceptable heroine. The film, which has been directed by Mitran Jawahar, one of Dhanush’s favourite directors, is the remake of the Telugu hit ‘Ready’.
Considering that Dhanush & Mitran Jawahar had given two films earlier in ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ (a superhit film) and ‘Kutti’ (a good film which bombed at the box-office), expectations are obviously on a high in their third venture together. The film also marks a return to Kollywood for Genelia De’Souza, who was last seen ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ opposite ‘Jeyam’ Ravi a couple of years ago.
At the film’s audio-launch, Dhanush was lavish in his praise of his co-star Vivek. “I’m not the only hero in the film. Vivek Sir has played an equally important role in the film. In fact, it’s Vivek who shoulders the film along in the second-half; by that way, he is also a parallel hero,” said Dhanush.
It’s surely nice of Dhanush to say so!
