Colosseum Kino 1 is the biggest theatre in Europe and it is set to screen a special show of ‘Endhiran.’
In the past 10 years, the first Indian film to be screened here is ‘Endhiran’ and tickets sales are reported to be doing well. The theatre is located in Oslo, the capital of Norway. Famous films like Matrix and Avatar have been screened here.
In western countries, a theatre usually has seats numbering 400 to 700 only and this trend is being followed in India too. The Colosseum theatre has 975 seats and has the latest technology, It is the largest THX cinema in the world.
Usually, only English films are screened here. In the last 10 years, ‘Endhiran’ is the first Tamil film to be screened here. This special screening has been arranged by VN Music Dreams of Vaseegaran Sivalingam a Tamilian settled in Norway, in collaboration with Abhirami Cash and Carry.
Says Vaseegaran, “It’s a matter of pride and happiness that Rajini sir’s ‘Endhiran’ is to be screened at Colosseum. For giving us this opportunity, we express our gratitude to Jack A Rajasekhar’s Fusion Edge Media and to Ayngaran Films.
Around 14,000 Tamilians live in Norway. Out of that, only about 20% go to theatres to watch films. A screening of a Tamil film attracts about 1400 viewers at the most. That’s why we release films only in small theatres. But this is a superstar film and expectations are high. That’s why we are releasing it in a big theatre. In a very short time, we have sold 75% of the tickets. Just imagine, some Norwegians have also bought the tickets for ‘Endhiran.’ As far as Norway is concerned, this is a record.”
