The media was full of reports of the recent public spat between actor Ajith and director Gautham Vasudev Menon. Menon claimed that he had been waiting ‘eternally’ for Ajith to start a film with him in the lead and was upset when the star announced his ‘Mangkatha’ (his landmark 50th film) would be directed by Venkat prabhu.
Menon later went on record saying that he would never ever approach Ajith for a film and added that he was ready to wait either for a ‘Suriya’ or ‘Kamal Haasan’ but certainly not for an ‘Ajith’. This made Ajith’s fans go berserk as they littered the internet with all sorts of tirades against Menon.
Gautham, who has made a couple of highly successful films with Suriya in the lead in ‘Kaakka Kaakka’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, is said to be seriously thinking of casting Suriya again in the lead role as a detective in the film ‘Thuppariyum Anand’, a script he had reportedly had in mind for his film with Ajith in the lead.
Presently busy with the Hindi remake of his Tamil superhit ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ with Trisha and Prateik Babbar in the lead, Menon is said to be planning to start this Tamil film after completing his Hindi assignment. He is said to be making subtle changes in the screenplay in the script of ‘Thuppariyum Anand’ to suit Suriya’s image.
With the kind of rapport Suriya enjoys with Gautham, it would be no wonder if Suriya steps into the detective’s role in Menon’s next Tamil directorial venture!
