Actress Anakha, the leading female actress in the recently released film ‘Sindhu Samaveli’ directed by Samy, has revealed that she has been receiving so many ‘death threats’ on her mobile phones for having starred in the film.
Directed by the controversial Samy, the film reportedly depicts Anakha, the lead actress in the film, falling in love with her father-in-law and accepting his ‘overtures’ to move into the ‘affair’. The film, produced by Michael Rayappan who has made ‘Nadodigal’ and ‘Goripalayam’ in the past, is being opposed by the saviours of ‘Tamil culture’.
Even Rayappan is said to be getting threats; so did Sami whose K.K. Nagar house came under attack from a mob a few days back. It’s in this backdrop that the heroine Anakha, who plays the controversial ‘daughter-in-law’ in the film, has started getting ‘death threats’ over phone.
Speaking about the threats, Anakha says that “I have been getting threats over phone for having starred in the film. The day before yesterday, I had been to the ‘Mini Udhayam’ complex to watch film along with the members of the public. To my dismay, some women seated among the audience started scolding me.
“For the past couple of days, I have also been getting death threats and obscene calls on my mobile phone. They say that they would ‘finish me off’ for having starred in a film depicting a role which is detrimental to the prevalence of Tamil culture.
“I’m an actress and I only carry out what my director asks me to do. As far as the film’s story goes, it doesn’t glorify the ‘affair’ between the daughter-in-law and the father-in-law and only depicts how thing could go wrong if such a situation persists,” concludes Anakha, who earlier debuted as Amala Paul in the non-starter ‘Veerasekaran’.
