There’s a old saying in Tamil which says that ‘when things are postponed, they are as good as not getting done’. This is exactly what has happened in actress Asin’s case. The actress was facing the wrath of Nadigar Sangam and many Tamil activists till a couple of months for having visited Sri Lanka to shoot for her Hindi film ‘Ready’ opposite Bollywood’s Salman Khan.
Asin’s act of visiting the rehabilitation camps for Tamils in the company of the Sri Lankan president’s wife was seen as an act of betrayal by many who bayed for her blood immediately on her return. Asin cleverly managed to check-mate most of them by tendering her unconditional (verbal) apology on her return to India from her shooting schedule in Lanka and started shooting for her Tamil film with Vijay.
The shooting of the film ‘Kaavalan’ is almost complete now and still no ‘action’ appears to be emerging from the Nadigar Sangam, which appears to have complete forgotten that action is to be initiated against the actress for having gone to Lanka violating the blanket ban on artistes not to visit the Island nation.
Sathyaraj, who had been very vociferous in the matter all along and who spoke at length on the issue at the last meeting of the Sangam on the action ‘to be taken’ against the actress, reportedly called up the officier-bearers (read Radharavi and Sarathkumar) and asked them to act fast. It appears that the upcoming general council meeting of the Sangam would be an ‘interesting’ affair.
