Producer-director and actor Vijay’s father S.A Chandrasekaran is all set to remake the film ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’, which was originally made by him in the early eighties and starred vijayakanth. In fact, the film went on to become a super hit film and put vijayakanth firmly on the road to stardom in the early eighties.
After that film, SAC prefixed his name with ‘Puratchi Iyakkunar’ (Revolutionary Director) and went on to make many socially relevant films including the Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’ and ‘Sivappu Malli’. ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’ was then remade in Telugu and Hindi and went on to become a hit in all these languages.
In fact, it was Rajinikanth who played vijayakanth’s role in the Hindi version titled ‘Andhaa Kaanoon’ in which superstar Amitabh Bachchan played a ‘guest role’. SAC is now planning to remake the film with a new cast. “Many leading heroes got in touch with me in recent times once they came to know that I was planning to remake ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’ (wonder who could they be!).
“I haven’t yet decided, though, as to who would play the hero. I would also be making relevant changes in the screenplay to suit today’s trend and would make the film in such a way that it would appeal to all sections of the people,” he said.
