Raavanan is film produced in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. This film directed Manirathnam has Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in the cast. The Tamil version is titled Raavanan, in Hindi as Raavan and in Telugu as Villain. Vikram as donned the lead role in Tamil and as villain in the Hindi version. This film is being released simultaneously worldwide.
Vikram while speaking to the media said,” Raavanan is not Ramayana story neither it is Mahabharata story. This film revolves around three characters called Veera, Deva and Raghini. Veera is a village guy. He is a man between good and bad. He is childish but at the same time is powerful. I am donning this role in Tamil. Abhishek Bachchan has done this role in Hindi. Devan alias Dev is a police officer. He is a man of principle. He loves his wife Raghini very much. Raghini is fond of dance, song and playing with children.
Prithviraj is donning the role of Dev in Tamil while I play this role in Hindi. What happens when these three characters are trapped in a forest is the theme of the film. Whether it is life or death for these characters? Who wins among the three? Who turns bad from good? Who turns good from bad? This is the climax of the film. Manirathnam is a king in portraying the emotions of a human on the screen. He has once again proved this in this film. People who saw this film say that this is the best film among all the other films directed by Manirathnam. The role Veera in which I have donned in Hindi is a challenging one. This is the first film I have acted in Hindi.
Manirathnam motivated by saying that when Aishwarya Rai can act in a Tamil why I can’t do it. It was very difficult for me to act speaking in Hindi. It was like acting in a first film. Abhishek Bachchan is a very old friend of mine. Aishwarya Rai is a simple person though she is a world beauty. She moves with every one with simplicity. Whenever she is in the sets, she will be thinking about her role. When I said that I am a fan of her she thanked me.”
