P. Vasu’s directorial journey has been completely overwhelmed with reigning superstars of South Indian film industry. The filmmaker holds an extraordinary mention for having churned out successful films across various regional languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and even Hindi.
In the recent years, it’s been a continuous success as three of his films crossed 200 successful days in theatres (‘Aaptha Mithra’ – 2004, ‘Chandramukhi’ – 2005 and ‘Aaptha Rakshaka – 2010’). Now, he has joined hands with actor RK for ‘Puli Vesham’, whose previous films ‘Ellam Avan Seyal’ and ‘Azhagar Malai’ have won favorable reviews.
‘Much alike these films, RK’s role will be exceptionally different’ says P. Vasu, who has been completing everyday’s schedule with perfection. According to the filmmaker, this will be a suspense-thriller laced with lots of commercial ingredients in good quality.
RK has two-dimensioned role as he enacts the role of an innocuous villager and a roughneck as well. Yesteryear actor Karthik’s comeback in a prominent role has turned more spotlights on this film. Actress Sadha doesn’t stop appreciating P. Vasu for having offered her a powerful characterization in this film. Says Sadha: ‘P. Vasu sir is known for offering substantial roles for all his actresses in his every film. In fact, I was supposed to play the female lead in both ‘Chandramukhi’ and ‘Aaptha Mithra’ that I had to refuse due to my prior commitments in Hindi. This will be a special film in my entire career as my delineation will be a cliff-hanging factor till the climax.’ Newcomer Divya Viswanath from God’s own country makes her debut as another female lead in this film.
After working with Vadivelu in almost all his films, P. Vasu has opted for Ganja Karuppu as he felt that his body language offers more humor than his witty liners.
The film’s first schedule is fast on the heels of completion and P. Vasu has planned to shoot few scenes in village backdrops.
Karunamoorthy, who shot to fame with ‘Modhi Vilayaadu’ for his stylish cinematography cranks camera for this film while Srikanth Deva scores music. Don Max, who indeed made pioneered with spot editing in ‘Ellam Avan Seyal’, continues handling the same task. Rajashekar has choreographed stunts and famous art director GK has erected some eye-catching sets.
The film’s production works will be completed within short span of time and is slated to hit screens in June.
