Vasantha Balan who rose to glory with his film Veyil is to release his long pending Angadi Theru this January. Veyyil was screened at Cannes, Vasantha Balan received South Indian Film fare award in the best director category, and that film was elected as the best regional film at 54th National Film Awards.
Angadi Theru is the story of a salesgirl and sales boy of a big retail outlet. The film has debutant Mahesh in the lead, pairing with Anjali of film Kattradhu Thamizh.
The director with art director GK had erected a realistic set that resembles T Nagar Ranganathan Street. The movie’s audio is done by G V Prakash and Vijay Antony. G V Prakash is working with the director for the second time, the first being Veyil. The film’s dialogues are written by the famous novelist Jayamohan.
A Venkatesh plays a pivotal role and Sneha does cameo.
Ayngaran International is distributing the art at 100 screens in Tamil Nadu on release date. The film will be released on 25 January 2010.
After this film Vasantha Balan, will direct an English film to be produced by Sandeep Singh, who produced Bandit Queen. The film is named Rough India.
