Do you remember the man who reveals secrets about ghosts to Aadhi in S Picutres’ Eeram? That is a role played by classical guitarist turned actor Poly Varghese.
Says Poly, “I am a Hindustani classical guitarist based in Chennai performing raagas on a modified electric guitar. I had the privilege to be a disciple of Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhat the renowned Mohan Veena exponent and Grammy award winner .I started my music career from the prestigious Kerala kalamandalam,Trichur after which I went on to the Viswa Bharathi University at antiniketan, Kolkata. Thereafter under the tutelage and guidance of Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhat I have been able to establish myself as an accomplished Hindustani classical guitarist and I have used my knowledge of classical raagas to play Hindustani classical music on the guitar in my own innovative style. I have a number of concerts to my credit both in Kerala and TN.”
Not only acting in movies, it looks like he is interested in composing music for the stage as well. Says Poly, ” Since I’ m very active and interested in theatre I have composed music for the recent play by actor Nasser called Karnan.”
Apart from Eeram he has also bagged a role in Chuzhal where he will be seen in a negative character. Acting runs in his blood too as he has many years experience in theatre as well. Will Kollywood welcome another good theatre artiste once again?
