Asin Thottumkal is a very popular south Indian film actress.She is a two time Film fare award winner.She is one of the few actresses in south Indian film industry who take family type roles.Asin started her schooling in Naval Public school which was in Kochi, her home town.She has also completed her B.A English at St.Teresa’s college.Before becoming a film star, Ashin was a part-time model, and a business women.
Ashin Film Career:
Asin did her debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s film ‘Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001. However, her first success film in terms of commercial was Puri Jagannad’s film ‘Amma Nanna O tamilammai‘ opposite Raviteja in 2003 and she won the Film fare Award for the best telugu actress in that year. After many successful and commercial films,she again received her second South Film fare award, this time for the Tamil film, Ghajani in 2005. The film was lated dubbed into Telugu as Ghazani and was a super hit on the box office. Asin, recently made her debut in Bollywood with Ghajini, the remake of the same film.
Asin initially considered as a jinx in the kollywood(Tamil) industry as her initial films she signed in Tamil were delayed or canceled. Her first appearance in the Tamil film industry is ‘M.kumaran son of Mahalakshmi‘ with was the remake of her tollywood(telugu) movie ‘Amma Nanna O tamila Ammai‘. The movie went on and stood as one of the best and biggest hits in 2004. Both her hit movies Ghajani with ‘Amma Nanna…..‘ were dubbed into Tamil and Telugu. She became the one of the popular actresses from then. She acted with famous heroes Venkatesh, Surya, Vikram, Bala Krishna,etc. Asin is a brand ambassador for various products like fairever, spinz, colgate and mirinda.
Asin next movie release was Dasavatharam opposite Kamal Hassan. The film will be dubbed in eight languages including Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Marathi.
