Deiva Thirumagal is a forthcoming 2011 Indian Tamil drama film written and directed by AL Vijay and produced by Mohan Natarajan and a remake of the American film ‘I Am Sam‘, a Sean Penn and Dakotta Fanning starrer. The film features Vikram in the lead role as a mentally challenged adult with the maturity of a five-year-old boy, while Anushka, Amala Paul and Nassar portray other pivotal roles.
The film comprises director AL Vijay‘s ‘regular’ technical crew with GV Prakash Kumar as music composer, Nirav Shah as cinematographer and Anthony as editor.
The film completed its schedules at a brisk pace and only announced the title of the project at the first press conference in April 2011. The teaser trailer of the project was released at the conference and has won critical acclaim, whilst the film is expected to release on May 13, 2011.
Vikram’s next film ‘Deiva Magan’ has started rolling at full-fledged speed. Actor Vikram usually takes a longer interval between his each project. But now realizing the blunders, the actor has decided to have at least 2 films releasing a year. Deiva Magan’ is produced by Mohan Natarajan, who was supposed to produce Vikram’s ’24’ with Vikram Kumar as the director and later ‘Vedi’ by Boopathy Pandian. Since, these projects didn’t work well on the initial stages, the actor decided to kick-start the film ‘Deiva Magan’ for same banner.Vijay of ‘Madharasapattinam’ is wielding megaphone for this film with G.V Prakash scoring music to the lyrics of Na. Muthukumar and Nirav Shah handling cinematography. Anushka plays the female lead role while ‘Myna’ fame Amala Paul as Vikram’s deceased wife.
