Introduction:

Eligibility:
Aspirants must have completed 10+2 with science as core subjects to pursue a degree or diploma course in physiotherapy. The Bachelor’s course is of three-year duration and post-graduation is of two-year duration. It is also mandatory to undergo a one-year internship after completing the graduation course. The course contents include anatomy, biomechanics, disability prevention, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, psychology, medical and surgical conditions, kinesiology, rehabilitation, etc. Apart from degree courses, various short-term certificate courses are also available. Some personal traits that a physiotherapist must possess are: knowledge of the human anatomy, good interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, stamina, communication skills, team spirit, career-oriented, etc.
Branches of physiotherapy
Musculo-skeletal physiotherapy: Treats physical ailments connected with structures close to joint region such as bones, bursa, muscles and ligaments.
Cardio-Thoracic physiotherapy:Deals with heart and lungs.
Neurological physiotherapy: Treats problems in brain and brain nerves, and spinal cord and nerves of the spinal cord.
