Eligibility:
Those willing to pursue a career in medical transcription must be a graduate and must have undergone a formal training in medical transcription.
Aspirants must be fluent in the US English so that they can comprehend the American accent. Other than that, for a career in medical transcription, it is sufficient if one possess basic computer skills, good hearing, communication skills and familiarity with medical terms.
Ability to keep track with the medical terms and procedures is definitely a plus as it helps in fixing errors particularly spelling and grammar. As it a very monotonous job it is only ideal for those who enough patience.

Most companies prefer to train their employees before giving them fulltime employment as this job involves some special skills that need to be honed with training. Many companies also offer freelance opportunities. Those willing to venture out can find employment in hospitals, insurance companies, transcription services, publications, advocate’s office, pharmaceutical companies etc.
Medical transcriptionist transcribes patient-identifying information, checks for grammatical and spelling errors, does quality checks, among other things.
