Film and television is an important media for entertainment and communication. It is a blend of creativity and technicality. Films one of the most international medium, has developed into a universal art form that transcends cultural differences. Television is an electronic system for transmitting still or moving images and sound that project a view of the images on a picture tube or screen and recreate the sound. Directing television programmes for live broadcast presents a situation similar to that of working on the stage. The performance is continuous and cannot be stopped to correct mistakes. If one has artistic and technical skills and at the same time ability to express ideas, then this is the right field. The major areas of work include: conceptualizing, devising, selecting, planning, and producing or acquiring shows for specific time slots. Production also involves human resource development and materials management. Sales and marketing which involves selling airtime to advertisers. Presentation and anchoring involve live announcing, news reading, or news casting, and the linking together of various elements of a programme. Editing involves organizing and merging all the elements of a programme and developing a cohesive and final product. Visuals or graphics, in film and television, are animations, all kinds of illustrative material, and the colors and final visual quality of a picture or programme.
Eligibility:
Basic education qualification required is + 2. There will be aptitude tests and interviews to assess the candidate’s talents. There are Diploma, Post Diploma and even Certificate courses in each area of specialization. Specialization areas include production, direction, editing, cinematography, film processing, animation, acting, sound engineering, and make up, photography and so on.

Artistic flair, ability to work cooperatively, sense of responsibility, ability to work under pressure, great physical resilience, strong visual sense, good communication skills and for production and direction; leadership qualities, ability to bring out talent in others, creative instincts as well as administrative and organizational abilities are important.
Job Prospect:
India being one of the largest film making industry and the television industry booming career opportunities are aplenty. Candidates can find employment with Film Studios, Production Companies, Advertising Agencies, and Government Department, which make films or start their own venture as producer, director, editors, cameramen, soundmen, lighting crews, assistants and so on.
