Beauticians also work in health clubs and slimming centers, resorts and hotels. Many others are self employed and cater to their select clients in the show business.

The curriculum of beautician course generally includes body care, face, hands, skin, nails and make –up, facials, massage and diet. Hairdressing includes different aspects of styling the hair, cutting and dyeing and coloring etc. They also advise clients about proper care and give tips on hygiene, healthy habits and products. The beautician has to be patient, have a friendly approach, cleanliness and should possess good business acumen. They develop the skills to advise the clients on various aspects of skin and hair care and answer their questions. Most suited for this profession are girls just out of school.

Government Polytechnic offers diploma course in cosmetology and other private institutions offer different beautician courses. A pass in 10th standard or 10 = 2 for diploma is required to join these courses. Most of them are short terms courses with duration of less than one year. Depending on their skills and popularity beauticians can earn good income.
