Actress Charmi, who is beautiful and charming entered film industry at a very young age and climbed on to the top in shortest span of time. She acted with many big heroes but eventually the situations forced her to confine for item songs and small films.
The fresh small film ‘Prema Oka Maikam‘ tumbled at the box office miserably. The main reason is due to the headless screenplay and direction. Charmi has many such films in her hand now. But her desire is to work with Junior NTR, Prabhas, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu sort of heroes. Things are not happening as per her wish.
But still, she is not thinking to stop acting. She wishes to continue.
What’s Charmi’s mistake?
Chubby actress Charmi is back to silver screen after a hiatus with a poorly etched script Prema Oka Maikam. And yes, the film by Chandu which portrays Charmi as Mallika, a high-profile call girl, opened to weak reviews. In one word, the film has poured water on her dreams to comeback with a bang.
It’s no doubt that Charmi is one of the few talents in T-town who grew up on her own without a God father. During her heydays, she shared screen space with stars like Prabhas, Jr NTR, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna and Mohan Babu. But all of a sudden, what went wrong for Charmi? What is holding Charmi back? We tried to crack it to an extent.
After her women-centric flicks Mantra and Mangala garnered critical as well as commercial acclaim, her fortunes suddenly changed and since then she hasn’t had tasted success. It’s our Ram Gopal Varma who roped in her in his “epic” film Dongala Mutha and that’s the first step of her fall. And she never looked back since then. Her career, slowly, turned a downward spiral. Thanks to a handful of item numbers (Sakkubhai and Nellore girl) and cameos that brought back her to limelight. Else, she would have hit rock bottom.
Moving towards her upcoming films, only Pratighatana is progressing while her other two films RUM and Mantra 2 were stuck. We hear that RUM was stalled while Mantra sequel may not take place at all.
This is very tough and crucial period for actress as she has to take tough decisions and not to lose hope. Since she is doing good job in cameos and special numbers both in Bollywood and Tollywood, this would be a good bet for her to continue that for a while and comeback with a good script. Else, it would be a cul-de-sac for her unless some magic happens. She has to reconcile and it’s need of hour for her to comeback with a commercial flick rather than doing risky female-centric films. It seems, Charmi seriously need some guidance in choosing scripts and projects.
