Thalaivaa release on Aug 9 stills remains a big ?
While things were moving clearly in favour of Thalaivaa till today morning. Tsunami hit the fate of the movie this afternoon, with many theatre owners shutting down advance booking for the friday release following bomb threat. These included the multiplexes in Chennai too(like Devi,Kasi,Mayajaal,Sangam,Abirami…) .
Initial reports were that Tamil Nadu Oppressed student Revolutionary forces issuing threat to the the theatre owners. But with Vijay making press statement stating Thalaivaa is not against any politician, gave the hint .
Yes the ruling party members are the ones told to be behind the screen, they have advised the theatre owners to not screen the movie, if its content portrayed Vijay to their late leader MGR. This coming in the background off late SA Chandrasekhar comparing Vijay to the legendary MGR and posters struck across the City with annotation “Time to lead” .
In the close door meeting of the film Producer, distributor and exhibitors that took place at the Film Chamber Chennai this evening, no positive outcome was announced.
The latest we hear is with the Chennai-Chengalpattu theatre owners association announcing they are not ready to screen the movie without the cooperation of the Government. Chennai Police have also backed out stating they will not be able provide to protection for all theatres screening in Chennai. Thalaivaa most probably might boycott Chennai this Friday.
Salem,Dharmapuri and Namakkal district theatre owners were also called and updated by the police on not to screen the film till things are cleared out.
Abirami Mega malls owner Abirami Ramanathan speaking on this said” Yes I did get a call warning to avoid Screening the film from a former South Chennai MLA”
With the overseas prints already delivered and ready, will Thalaivaa get a go ahead in the over seas like vishwaroopam. As of now USA distributors are asked to hold.
There is going to be too many confusion till we get the final word tomorrow. Stay tuned as we keep you updated.
