Dr. Murali Manohar, producer of superstar Rajnikanth’s upcoming 3D animation film Kochadaiyaan, has asserted that reports that Rajnikanth’s ill-health was the reason which prevented him from going to Cannes to release the trailer of Kochadaiyaan was nothing but a ‘figment of imagination’ of the press.
“Rajini wanted some improvements in the trailer which was to be screened at Cannes. We hadn’t time to prepare the trailer in time and that’s the reason he did not go,” said the producer. Though Rajini liked the trailer, he wanted it to ‘wholly reflect’ the fact that Kochadaiyaan is a film ahead of its times at least by 3-4 years. As such, the crew decided to take some more time in finalizing a ‘new’ trailer.
“Rajini is back to his usual self more than an year ago; reports claiming that the trip to Cannes was cancelled due to Rajini’s ill-health were only imaginary and attempted to tarnish Rajini’s actual state of health. Those who are planting such rumours are only degrading themselves…even Aishwarya, Rajini’s eldest daughter, suggested that some improvements be made in the present version of the trailer.
“We decided to go by Rajnikanth’s advice not to race against time in making a ‘perfect’ trailer so as to screen it at Cannes. We are not at all bothered or disappointed that the trailer couldn’t be released in Cannes. There are plenty of film festivals happening around the world and the new trailer would be ready within the next fortnight or so. We only want to ensure that the final product matches the expectations, hopes and ‘dreams’ of millions of fans of the superstar,” concludes Manohar.
