The Chennai International Film Festival, organised by the Indo Cine Appreciation, kick-started in Chennai yesterday, December 14th, 2012. This fest will go on till December 20th, during which 160 films from 57 countries will be screened.
The event started off with a music program by the students of the Oscar winning music director AR Rahman’s music school and his son Ameen’s piano rendition had the audiences enthralled.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar lighted the traditional lamp and Minister Rajendra Balaji inaugurated the event formally.
Actor Siva Kumar, cinematographer BR Vijayalakshmi and director Sargunam have announced to be the jury to select the best films that are screened at the CIFF.
It may be mentioned here that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha had granted 50 lakhs for conducting this event.
