Gopichand turns villain in real life

Remember the threatening, scary and chilling villain in the film Jayam? The film, which gave debutant actor Ravi the tag of ‘Jayam’ Ravi, featured Tollywood’s Gopichand as the villain who was adamant in getting the heroine Sada. The film did successfully in Tamil and Telugu. While ‘Jayam’ Ravi went on to establish himself as one of the most saleable heroes in Kollywood, Gopichand took a different route.

The actor turned hero and found himself to be much in demand. He starred opposite the likes of Anushka, Trisha and Taapsee Pannu and even shared an ‘intimate’ lip-lock with Anushka in one of their films. The 32-year old Gopichand has starred as hero in more than 15 films.

Some time back, Gopichand’s family located a suitable bride for him to get married. The engagement was held in a grand manner and the work of printing the invitation cards was on. Tragedy struck as it happens in movies when Gopichand refused to go ahead with the marriage to Haritha. Gopichand wouldn’t have visualized at that time that his refusal would take a life.

Haritha’s father Rambabu, a popular diamond merchant, couldn’t digest the fact that the marriage has been halted. Hailing from a respectable family, he couldn’t face enquiries from neighbours and relatives about the ‘calling off’ of the marriage and drank a bottle of poison intending to end his life. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but passed away on the way to the hospital.

The Police have filed a case and started investigations into the circumstances which ‘forced’ Rambabu to end his life.
