Believe it or not. Kollywood’s bitter competitors STR and Dhanush will have the same heroine in their forthcoming films. It is learnt that director Selvaraghavan has roped in Richa Gangopadhyay, a Bengali beauty and an upcoming Tollywood star, as the heroine for his film. The news comes after a couple of days when director Dharani, who wields the megaphone for the remake of Debangg featuring Simbu in the lead, announced that Richa would be the female lead of the remake.
The sources close to the unit reveal that Richa has been shooting with Dhanush for the last two weeks in forest areas near the Kannur-Mysore road. Selva, who had earlier selected Andrea as the heroine, has replaced her with Richa Gangopadhyay. The reason cited for the change is that Andrea had opted out of the film.
Selvaraghavan had roped in Andrea just after the release of his Aayirathil Oruvan in which she played a major role. There was also a rumour that Selva’s proximity with the actress was one of the reasons for his parting ways with his ex-wife Sonia Agarwal. Earlier the movie was titled as Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam. Now it has been renamed as Irandam Ulagam.
Andrea walked out of the film after Selva got engaged to Geethanjali. Though there could be little connection between the two incidents, the timing of Andrea’s walk-out raises many eyebrows in the industry. Meanwhile, Selva has not only changed the title but he has also changed the story to a large extent, it is said.
All these behind the screen maneuverings have clearly benefited the Bengali beauty, who has become a sensational star overnight.
