Tamil Cinema actor Alex died at a private hospital in the city following a brief illness. He was 52 and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Alex had debuted in films with the Rajnikanth-starrer Valli‘. Industry sources said he had acted in over 100 films, playing the role of villian in many.

He was well-known as a magician before he entered movie world.

The state government had conferred the Kalaimamani‘ award on the magician-actor. He had also won the best character actor award from the state government for a role he played in the Simran starrer Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi‘.

A number of films in which he had a role, including Moondram Pournami‘, Oolaichavadi‘ and Ivarpattalam’, are scheduled for release this year.

Alex had also worked as an office-bearer of the South Indian Film Artistes’ Association.

    Alex Passed Away Due To Cancer

    Alex made his debut in films through Superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘Valli’ and later continued to act in films like ‘Mitta Mirasu’, ‘Kovilpatti Veera Lakshmi’ and many more. He played a minor role in Jeeva’s recent release ‘Singam Puli’, in which he performed as Santhanam’s uncle. Sources reveal that the actor was suffering from throat cancer for past few days and underwent severe treatment.

    Unable to resist the illness, he become more serious yesterday and was admitted in the hospital, where he breathed his last.

    Alex has won Tamil Nadu State Government awards for ‘Best Villain’ and ‘Best Character Artist’ category. He also achieved a great feat by performing magic show continuously for 24 hours and stamped his name in ‘Guinness Record’ and ‘Limca Book of Records’.

    Popular actor and Guiness record holding magician Alex died at a private hospital in Chennai on Sunday evening following a brief illness. He was 52 and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

    According to his family sources, the actor had been suffering from an intestinal disorder and was admitted to the hospital for treatment on Saturday.

    Alex had debuted in films with Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Valli. He he had acted in over 100 films, playing the role of villian in many.

    Alex had etched his name in the Guinness Book of World Record as well as the Limca Book of Records for performing magic non-stop for 24 hours.

    He was also the winner of Tamil Nadu government’s Kalaimamani and State awards.
