Actress Soniya Aggarwal (did you note the change in spelling?) is playing herself in her upcoming film titled ‘Oru Nadigaiyin Vaakkumoolam’. The actress, who separated from her director-husband Selvaraghavan last year, has been fervently attempting a comeback in Tamil films, where she debuted as heroine in ‘Kaadhal Kondein’ (directed by Selvaa) more than 7 years ago.
She is awaiting with bated breath the release of ‘Vaanam’, her first film in more than five years, which has a huger star-cast in Simbu, Bharath, Anushka, Vega and Prakash raj. ‘Vaanam’, incidentally, is the remake of the Telugu super-hit film ‘Vedam’.
Sources say that Soniya’s next assignment would be ‘Oru Nadigaiyin Vaakkumoolam’, in which she would be playing the role of an actress. The film, as the title suggests vividly, would trace the life and times of a struggling actress who manages to make it big in the dream-world films after ‘sacrificing’ many things life.
Kesavan, who produced Ameer’s Suriya-starrer ‘Mounam Pesiyadhae’ a few years back, returns as the producer with this film which would be directed by the journalist-turned-director Raj Krishna. Raj says that the film would be ‘loosely’ based on a popular story which appeared in a regional weekly years back and was liked by many.
“I have also added to the script some interesting incidents that I happened to witness in some actresses’ lives in my job as a journalist. The moment I conceived the story, the only actress who came to my mind to play the role on-screen was Soniya Aggarwal. Thankfully, she liked the script and gave her consent instantaneously to star in the lead role in the film,” concludes Raj and reveals that the movie would be launched by mid-May.
