The film, which was planned as actor Vikram’s first home production to be directed by actor-director Sasikumar, has officially been called off for now. It’s said that Sasikumar himself would be producing the film now. Why did Vikram opt out of the film in the first place? The reason was revealed by Sasikumar at a recent event.
Vikram was to produce the film in collaboration with a person from Mumbai. The person (said to be a lady) felt that the budget of the film was on the ‘higher side’ and that she took up the matter with Sasikumar. After he found it difficult to convince her, Sasikumar reportedly told her that he would take over the film himself, to which she consented.
“Vikram Sir had termed me as a ‘friend’. I would term him as a ‘very good’ friend of mine, even after our collaborative project has gone off rails,” says Sasikumar, who has named his film as ‘Eesan’. “Till now, all my films were based in my native Madurai. For Eesan, though, I have moved to Chennai and made it as the backdrop of my script. I have attempted to narrate in a practical manner the night life o the people of Chennai.
“Producer A.L. Azhagappan plays an important role in the film. My friend and director Samuthirakkani, who played a significant role in ‘Subramaniapuram’, would be playing the role of a tough cop in the film,” concludes Sasikumar.
