Nagarjuna Supports Kamal hassan against Viswaroopam Ban
Nagarjuna came in support of Kamal Hassan who is fighting all the odds for the release of his Rs 95 crore film Viswaroopam.
Speaking to NDTV, Nag told,”I have known Kamalji for a very long time. I’m a fan of his work and he is one of the best actors India has produced. Unfortunately, I was out of the country and I’m yet to see Vishwaroopam. He has done many films before. I don’t think he is a man who could do something which affects communal harmony.”
The latest development is that The Madras High Court has set aside the single judge’s order lifting the ban, which means Viswaroopam stands banned in Tamilnadu till February 6th.
Good to see a senior hero like Nag leading from the front in fight against ill-treatment meted out to a finest actor in the country. It’s time for all the Tollywood stars to step out and speak against the ban on Vishwaroopam as what happened to Kamal Hassan now may happen to any one of the actors in future.
Kamal Hassan agrees to crop ‘Vishwaroopam’
The buzz yesterday was that the Judge may have agreed to lift the ban from screening the movie in Tamil Nadu because Kamal Hassan may have agreed to crop off a few selected scenes from his “Vishwaroopam“. After the Press Meet held at his place today, Kamal Hassan himself clarified the issue.
He said that a jury of people watched the film and selected the parts to be trimmed to which he agreed. Specifically the scenes which refer to the Holy Book of Islam, The Quran. Kamal Hassan also added that more shocking news awaits the nation and that he needs all the support to withstand it and it’s reactions. He says he never meant harm to anyone and that his Muslim brothers know that even if others don’t.
CBFC Chairperson on ‘Vishwaroopam’ ban
The chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Leela Samson was shocked upon hearing about the ban of Kamal Hassan‘s “Vishwaroopam“. The movie was to be released on the 25th of January but was banned in fear of religious unrest in Tamil Nadu. The ban has now been extended to Andhra Pradesh and Kerala too.
Leela Samson said, “This is hounding of an artist, a man who is an icon of Tamil Nadu. We are sensitive to issues. The group objecting to ‘Vishwaroopam‘ have the freedom not to view it. We will object to the language used by the lawyer representing the Tamil Nadu government against the censor board. It is absolutely unacceptable. We have certified hundreds and thousands of films but only with Vishwaroopam, people find, it has not been done with due diligence? This is an infringement on freedom of expression.”

Kamal Hasan is a responsible citizen and great filmstar. He can not do anything to hurt any community. So, please let us see what he has made and what he want to say.
