Poet and lyricist Vaali is celebrating his birthday today, October 29th, 2012. Born as TS Rangarajan on this day in 1931, Vaali is one of the veterans in the film industry having penned over thousands of songs.

Apart from writing poetries and lyrics, Vaali has also acted in some films like Poikkal Kudhirai, Sathya, and Hey Ram. He is the recipient of several honors and awards in his long career.

The Union Government has honored him with the Padma Shri Award while the State Government has bestowed on him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Lyricist five times.
