The Malayalam mega star was born on September 7th, 1951 and started his acting career in the early 1970s and has acted in several films since then. He has proved his mettle as an actor par excellence having won three National Awards and a host of state awards, FilmFare awards and the Padma Shri.

Mammootty has three films – Bavuttiyude Namathil, Face to Face and Jawan of Vellimala – in various stages of production currently.

Apart from Malayalam films, Mammootty has also acted in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and English films earning him a huge fan base.

Mammootty is also associated with various philanthropic activities in an effort to help the poor and needy.
