Panithuli Photos Panithuli movie review

Starring Ganesh Venkataraman, Kalpana Pandoit and Shibana Shankar, Panithuli is a triangle love story but loaded with some suspense element.

Shot mostly in USA, the film revolves forward and backward and this narration makes it interesting. Ganesh venkataraman who shot to fame with films like Unnaipol Oruvan and Abhiyum Nanum, takes a big leap as solo hero with Panithuli.

Music is by Agnel Roman and Faizan Hussain and the album has some catchy numbers that manages to sustain our interest., But the problem is placing of these songs which mars the flow of the film.C J Rajkumar’s camera captures the snow-clad peaks of USA well.

Shiva (Ganesh Venkataraman) falls in love with a medical student Deepika (Kalpana Pandit). He goes to USA for a job and the girl’s father throws a challenge to Shiva, that few moments before he leaves to USA. He agrees to get her daughter married to him on one condition that he should not call up or even try to meet his daughter for the next one year. If he wins the challenge, he will agree for their marriage.

Shiva gears up for the challenge and goes to USA. But in USA he leads a new life. He falls in love with his colleague Maya (Shibana Shankar) and eventually forgets Deepika. After a few reels, it is revealed through a doctor that Shiva had sustained injury in his head in an accident and was suffering amnesia (selective amnesia) and hence he forgot his past love life. What happens from here is narrated in a little dragging manner by the directors.

Ganesh venkataraman does his role well. He gets under the skin of the character and performs to his potential. Kalpana Pandit and Shibana Sankar play heroines. The rest of the cast are all newcomers and the director duo have managed to get the best from them.

Cinematographer C J Rajkumar has used RED Cameras to shoot the movie and his hard work is visible on the screen. K V Logu and Subahshini Krishnamurthy have come up with commendable art work. Choreography is Mona Khan and Balaji. Editing by N Vasath and Iyappan and that could have been more crisp.

The director duo should have concentrated more on the script and made it crisper. The attempt is laudable but the execution plays spoilsport.

Verdict: Do the dew
