The Indian film industry is in a state of shock for the Central Board for Film Certification aka CBFC has banned ‘A’ certificate films entirely, for broadcasting on any television channels! As per this new rule, a film certified with an ‘A’ certificate by the CBFC cannot be screened on television channels.
So far, such films were censored for TV screening and were allowed to be screened after 11 pm.
But now, the CBFC has announced that it will not re-certify the films, thus meaning films with an A certificate are unfit for TV screening! This is a major shocker for producers; as a chunk of revenue from films comes from satellite rights and many films especially action entertainers have ‘A‘ certificates due to the violent content or so.
A ban on these films on TV is going to affect the entertainment market at many levels and directors will be forced to come out with U films, even if the script demands otherwise.
Do you agree with CBFC’s decision? And what will happen to the films that boast off an ‘A‘ and have been already bought by TV channels for whooping prices? Only time will tell the tale.

Billa 2 won’t be telecast on TV?
The recent announcement by the CBFC (Central Board for Film Certification), that no A-rated movies should be telecast on TV, has created quite a buzz! Off late, a lot of movies have been released with an A certification, and Billa 2 is one among them!
The rule is that, any A-rated movie must first remove all objectionable scenes, and get another certificate from CBFC, that it is suitable for TV broadcasting, before being aired. But, due to this recent directive from the CBFC, many producers and TV channels came in for a huge shock!
We hear that a satellite channel has obtained the TV telecast rights of Billa 2 for Rs. 6.5 Crores, and now they are in a quandary, because of this CBFC order. This makes the TV broadcast of Billa 2, doubtful! Sale of satellite rights was one of the major sources of recovering their investments for the producers, but this issue has now come as a blow to that. Will Billa 2 be seen on television? We’ll just have to wait and see!
That’s the best decision for the current state (Level) as citizen. But as far as considering Cine Industry “The CBFC” has to reconsider banning of all “A” certified Films.
