Tamil actresses Trisha and Lakshmi Rai bury hatchet and make truce
Sparks were flying between actresses Lakshmi Rai and Trisha ever since they completed their first film together in Ajith’s Mankatha last year. The film, which was the star’s landmark 50th film in his career, turned out to be a colossal hit and it then sparked the much-spoken about ‘rivalry’ between Lakshmi Rai and Trisha. The rivalry between the actresses now appears a thing of the past.
Reports emanating from Dubai, where the SIIMA awards were recently given away to various artistes, say that Lakshmi Rai and Trisha have buried the ‘ill-will’ between them and have become a kind of ‘long-lost’ friends. Though Trisha was the ‘official’ heroine in Mankatha, she had to contend with the presence of many heroines in the film in the form of Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jermaiah and Kainaat Arora.
Observers point out that Lakshmi Rai not only looked her best in the film but also had more footage and significance than that of the role essayed by Trisha. This obviously upset Trisha who was offered both the roles earlier by director Venkat Prabhu. Rai stepped into the role which was turned down by Trisha and this only added to the latter’s anger and frustration.
Trisha and Lakshmi Rai were engaged in war of words and their enmity was out in the open with the press feeding ‘liberally’ on them. After close to an year now, it appears that the actresses had time to meet and ‘talk their hearts out’ with each other and have finally decided to bury the hatchet. The two actresses reportedly partied late into the night and even hugged each other, a clear sign that they’re back on track.
