One of Kollywood’s hottest stars, Surya, is celebrating his birthday today, 23rd July, 2012. Surya entered the film industry with Nerukku Ner, produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies and directed by Vasanth. The star’s break, however, came in 2001 with Nandha, directed by Bala.
Ever since Nandha happened, Surya set-about to prove that he is here to stay for a long long time and films like Kaakha Kaakha, Pithamagan, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Vaaranam Aayiram, Singam, and Raththa Sarithiram bear testimony to this fact.
Apart from donning the greasepaint, Surya is also a successful television host and a benevolent philanthropist.
With Maatraan lined-up release and Singam 2 ready to go on floors, the star certainly has a bright and busy year ahead.

Surya celebrates his 37th Birthday today
Actor Surya, having a dream run in his career, with lots of successful films under his belt and interesting projects on hand, is celebrating his 37th birthday today. Surya‘s popularity is at its all-time high with his ‘Vellalam Oru Kodi‘, the quiz show for Vijay TV.
The actor was born on 23rd July, 1975. He is the eldest son of actor Sivakumar and married actress Jyothika in 2006, after being engaged for several years. In 2008, he began Agaram Foundation, which funds programmes for preventing early childhood drop-outs
Surya who is gearing up for his action entertainer Maatran with director KV Anand, started his industry career in 1997 with Nerrukku Ner. After a series of flops and criticism, he bagged his first recognition for enacting a complicated character in Bala‘s Nandha, in 2001.
Surya got his first award for the film, too. Surya also ventured into film distribution after opening Studio Green, which was responsible for producing and distributed a few of his own and his brother Karthi‘s films. Always humble, calm and composed Suriya has completed 30 films and is considered one of the most versatile actors in the industry.
Beside Maatran, Surya has Hari’s Singam 2 sequel, Gautham Menon‘s Thuppariyum Anandhan, in the offing.

Surya, one of the most bankable stars in the industry, celebrates his birthday today (July 23). He is celebrating his birthday today with Jyothika and his little ones, Diya and Dev.
His fans are celebrating the star’s birthday by holding blood donation camps at the VHS Hospital near Mathiyakailash in Chennai where 82 of his fans are donating blood. Suriya’s cousin, Ramesh Babu is the chief guest of the event. Several other activities including dresses and note books are given away to school tots and the needy.
Suriya is currently working on Maatraan with KV Anand, a stylish big budget flick that’s touted to be his biggest film so far in his career. The film sees Surya and Kajal in the lead roles and the actor who is known to try something new in every film is playing conjoined twins in this movie.
‘Maatraan’, although one of the biggest films of the year, the makers are tight-lipped about it and do not want to hype the film among the audience and increase the expectation level multi-fold…
