It was on Saturday that the audio of ‘Saguni‘ was launched at a grand function in Chennai. In the next 24 hours, the ‘Kanda Karavadai…‘ song was downloaded 75000 times, making a record of sorts. And music composer GV Prakash Kumar is so thrilled about it.
Sung by Shankar Mahadevan, the peppy number has some dialogues in between, which are mouthed by none other than Karthi, the protagonist of this political thriller loaded with humor.
“That is really great. 75,000 downloads in a single day is not an easy thing,” says Prakash, adding: “We released two singles from the movie on Karthi‘s birthday. They got 2.5 lakh downloads in seven days.”
This is the second time Prakash has worked for a Karthi starrer, with the first time being Selvaraghavan’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan‘. ‘Saguni‘, directed by newcomer Shankar Dayal, has Pranitha as the leading lady. KE Gnanavelraja of Studio Green is the producer.

The audio launch of the Karthi starrer Saguni happened last Saturday, June 2nd 2012 at the Sathyam Cinemas and the songs have turned out to be chartbusters already. The music buffs are lapping up the audio CDs from the stores and industry sources say that the CDs are moving out like hot cakes.
Further, fans find the tunes very appealing to the ears and hence a number of mobile phone users are setting the tunes from the Saguni album as caller tunes.
Saguni, which is directed by debut director Shankar Dayal, is due to be released later this month. The film stars Pranitha as Karthi’s lead pair and GV Prakash Kumar is the music director.
