‘Agni Natchathiram’ to be remade in Tamil – Telugu!
If industry insiders are to be believed, Mani Ratnam’s cult blockbuster ‘Agni Natchathiram’ will be remade in Tamil and Telugu by producer T Ramesh.
“Agni Natchathiram is a cult classic and I’m thoroughly thrilled to remake it as a bilingual in Tamil – Telugu. I’m in talks with the big stars of Tamil and Telugu film industries for this remake and I can assure that it will be a big project with a big star from both the industries in the lead”, says T Ramesh.
T Ramesh is the producer of Vishal – Trisha starrer ‘Samar’. An announcement listing the cast and crew of the film is expected from him shortly. Buzz is that a couple of supporting actors from the original might be retained in the remake as well.
The film is about two half brothers, played by Prabhu and Karthik in the original. It was dubbed in Telugu back then and was also remade in Hindi. It will be interesting to watch who will be cast as the brothers in the remake.
Ajith-Vishnuvarthan multi-starrer to get Tollywood actors!!!
The list of actors being roped in for Ajith’s next with Vishnuvardhan seems to be never-ending! While Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee have been signed on to play the lead roles in this multi-starrer, we can tell you that two other prominent actors will also be added to the cast.
While it’s almost confirmed that Arvind Swamy will play an important character in the film, talks are on with some of the prominent Telugu actors, including Ravi Teja and Nagarjuna, for a powerful guest role.
A source in the know says, “Vishnuvardhan and his team are in talks with several leading actors for a guest role. They’ve spoken with Nagarjuna (who was supposed to work with Ajith earlier in Mankatha), Ravi Teja and Jagapathi Babu as of now. Prithviraj is also on the list. There’s a good chance the film will be released in Telugu as well, and it only makes sense to rope in another actor who is equally popular in Tollywood. However, the unit is in no hurry to finalise the actor now because the guest appearance portion will be shot much later.”
When contacted, producer A M Rathnam refused to divulge details, but added, “We’re working out the modalities, and an official announcement will be made in a couple of days.”
Thala recommends Ashwin Kakumanu
It looks like Thala has taken a liking to young actor Ashwin Kakumanu, with whom he worked with in Mankatha. The talented young actor is apparently on the look-out for performance-oriented roles and the buzz is that Ajith recommended him to Vishnuvardhan for his flick. Sources say that a preliminary meeting was held with the young actor and director. If Ashwin bags the role, it will be another winner in his kitty!
Manirathnam wants the best
Director Manirathnam is very happy with the final output of his film kadal which has music by AR Rahman. The film has Gautam Karthik son of actor Karthik and thulasi Nair daughter of Actress Radha as the lead pair. The director who is a management student has given some great films to us. His first film was Pagal nilavu with Revathi and Murali as the lead pair with wonderful music by Ilayaraja. Ever since Roja all his films has music by AR Rahman.
The director has revealed that Ilayaraja is a genius and for the first time when i stood before him requesting to do music for my film he was magnanimous to do it for me and ever since then his music has given life to my films. Such is the respect Manirathnam has for Ilayaraja. Now, most of his films has different technicians for which the director confirms that he would always prefer to work with people who are better than me to make my films better.
