Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who was in Chennai on Friday to attend the 76th Foundation Day of Odisha, honoured maestro Ilayaraja in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

While J Jayalalithaa honoured Aruna Mohanty, renowned Odissi dancer, and Sudarshan Patnaik, sand sculpture specialist, her Odisha counterpart felicitated Ilayaraja and veteran playback singer Vani Jayaram.
The two Chief Ministers shared some lighter moments with Ilayaraja, who is fondly refered as Isaignani. They also laid the foundation stone of the Odisha Bhavan, that will come up in Velachery in Chennai.
Receiving the first copy of a souvenir published by the Utkal Association of Madras from J Jayalalithaa, Naveen Patnaik spoke of how the two States occupied places of pride in the country and referred to their glorious traditions in the fields of art, music and dance.
