At a time when films from Telugu are dubbed and released, here comes ishtam, being remade from recent Telugu hit Yemaindi Ee Vela.
It speaks about romance, love-lost and love-gained.
Debutant director Prem Nizar, a former associate of Chakri Toleti has chosen to do the Tamil version of the movie.
Half the battle is won as he managed to rope in Vimal, known fr playing boy next-door looks. Nisha Agarwal (sister of Kajal Agarwal) who acted in the original to do the Tamil version too.
Prem Nizar has made right changes to suit Tamil masses.
Vimal shed his rural youth image that he had obtained by doing films like Eththan and Kalavani, to play a trendy city youth. Santhanam provides all humour appearing as Vimal’s friend. His witty one-liners adds pep to the roceedings. Anoop and Parvathi Nirban besides Yuvarani and Pragathy are also in the cast.
Vimal and Nisha Agarwal gets estranged. They meet their own fortunes and love-lost is love-gained for them.
When everything seems to go well and the couple go their own way and start their lives, a twist occurs. Does the duo manage to get back on track in their lives forms the crux. Vimal is USP of the movie. He is at his ease playing is part well. Nisha resembles her sister at many places.
She did what she did in the original. Santhanam with his body language evokes laughter.
Anoop and Pragathy add grace and charm to their roles.
Prem Nizar has done a decent job. The emotional elements comes fore. The life of IT professionals are picturised well.
Though at places it is cliched, Ishtam is sure to stick to your hearts. Produced by Balaji Real Media Limited, Ishtam is here to stay.
