Pawan Kalyan & Shruti Hassan’s Gabbar Singh gets positive reviews from film critics
Director Harish Shankar’s latest Telugu movie Gabbar Singh starring Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Hassan, is an action-romantic film, which has got positive reviews from the film critics. Pawan Kalyan’s wonderful performance, interesting screenplay, Devi Sri Prasad’s music, action, dance and comedy sequences are its major attractions. The movie has been rated 3.5 out of 5. Pawan Kalyan towers over everything else. It’s a tailor made role that carries the movie forward. His body language and dialogue delivery take the cake. The music score by Devi Sri Prasad stands out and enhances the whole experience. The action sequences also have been well choreographed. The movie sets a new benchmark as far as “paisa vasool” goes.

Pawan Kalyan rocks in and as Gabbar Singh. AfterKushi, this particular role can be seen as the best in his career. His comedy timing is superb, coupled with mass stunts and dances. Gabbar Singh seems to be tailor made for Pawan Kalyan. The director did follow the original script of Dabangg in most sequences, but gave more importance to comedy. The first half is filled with mass masala, while the second half turns hackneyed, but the drawback is instantly overcome thanks to the comedy.

All in all, GS is a treat to Pawan’s fans, but it has not been made for the first week audience alone. This one will be a genuine hit, registering repeat audience for sure.

Although Pawan carries the film entirely on his shoulders, there is nothing to write home about his onscreen chemistry with Shruti. She is wasted in a role where she has little to do apart from smiling and looking gorgeous. The much-hyped item number ‘Kevvu Keka’ was a chartbuster, but onscreen it is a big let-down despite Malaika.

It’s Pawan Kalyan all the way, who fights and mouths choicest dialogues. Shruti Hassan looks gorgeous as the petite village belle. She proves her talent, despite being consigned to a secondary role. Suffice to say Gabbar Singh is strictly for Pawan Kalyan’s loyals.

The film is indulgent. The overdose of Pawan Kalyan‘s swagger and slow-motion shots slacken the pace. At some point in the film, you wonder if there’s no room for subtleties as dialogue renditions remain over the top. But despite its shortcomings, Gabbar Singh is a fun ride. After the initial few minutes, you stop comparing Gabbar with Chulbul Pandey and the film with Dabangg. Therein lies its success.

Gabbar Singh crosses Magadheera and Dookudu!
Harish Shankar and Pawan Kalyan’s movie Gabbar Singh, has beaten the first weekend Box Office record of Blockbuster films like Magadheera and Dookudu.
Being a Full entertainer Movie it has collected approximately Rs. 25 crores at the collections centers in Andhra Pradesh in the first three days.
Gabbar Singh was released in 250 plus theatres in Nizam area and more than 20% of its collection is coming from this area. The movie has scored Rs. 5.74 crores from the collection centres in Nizam area in three days.
It has collected 3.50 crores from Ceeded, 1.27 crores from Vizag, 1.10 crore from East and West Godavari, 1.77 crore from Guntur, 1.17 crore from Krishna and 0.69 crore from Nellore.
However, Ram Charan Teja’s Magadheera had collected 19.98 crores, while Dookudu collected 23.35 crores in first three days. Now, Gabbar Singh has toppled these records by grossing 25 crores. With this, Pawan Kalyan starrer has set a new record at the Andhra Pradesh Box Office.

After Long Time folks of Andhra Pradesh have the opportunity to watch a Full Length Entertainer in the form of “GABBAR SINGH”. Every aspect of the film is tantalising.
Gabbar singh teases Salman Khan starrer ‘DABBANG” in every possible aspect in every possible way. Blockbuster of 2012 and will be the highest grossing of all the telugu movies.
Audience is going gaga and dancing in theaters, movie is filled with full doses of comedy right from minute one to the last second. Pawan Kalyan’s dances were mesmerizing and some chiru shades were seen in some of the steps. Compliments to the choreographer and Devi Sri Prasad’s magic touch in the form of music for the songs and background music. Every song was well written in terms of lyrics, singers sang them perfect , it was a visual treat.
Songs are already Charbusting and Song Picturization complimented them and it was a visual treat to watch the songs . Not even a single scene could be written off every scene has the perfect mixture and blending of entertainment.
Pawan Kalyan Dances are Simply Superb, though he is not a Good dancer per popular opinion but his dance moves are really moving and will move your legs.. Amitabh Bachan is not a good dancer but with the little moves he does people go ga ga over his dances..same magic by PowerStar.
Dialouges are a big boost to the movie and constantly add power and punches ..PowerStar’s Comedy Timing is perfect, hats off to Harish Shankar for his dialouges and the Pawan Kalyans Powerful punches in them..
Cinematography by Jayanan Vincent is indescribable , the Movie looks very Rich and Colorful, Shruti Hassan never looked so beautiful on the screen before, she is a natural beauty and with Jayanan’s Photography she looks angelic.
Harish Shankar’s Gabbar Singh has redefined ‘Dabbang’ by adding the nativity for the South Indian Audiences and is for sure a Kevvu Keka. With right ingredients and correct mixture and blends of comedy, dialogues, fights, music, dances.
Every character in the movie gave it’s 100% justification.
Pawan Kalyan : He was simply superb, his mannerisms in Dialouges, dances, Fights, comedy. He simply excelled as ‘Gabbar Singh”. we cant write about it enough , you will have to watch it as it is indescribale.
Shruti Hassan : She looked gorgeous and angelic as a simple village girl. She did her part of the role well and screen presence was good. She has a winner in the form of “Gabbar Singh” , book lo rasuko vachu. Shruti excelled in Emotional scenes.
Akash : His role was good and he completely performed well as a child artiste for Pawan. He has loads of talent and will sure be a very good actor. He brought some laughs in the gabbar singh scenes. his dialogues were very well timed.
Abhimanyu : He was good as a villian and justified his role with decent performance. He was energetic and powerful as a villian to Pawan Kalyan and cou;ld match upto the expectations in a negative role to the Hero.
Brhamanandam : He brought laughs to the audiences as Recovery Agent, though he had a brief and limited role he won the hearts. His best scene was with “Gabbar Singh” cutout on the rickshaw for recovering vehicles. audience went crazy for the scene.
Tanikella Bharani : Tanikella did what he usually does. he was good as a villains uncle and gave good performance.
Ali : Ali had a very short role with very less dialouges but he excelled in his role as a constable.
Ajay : Ajay was good as a spoiled brat and step son of Pawan Kalyan.
Nagineedu : He to did his part well as a step father to
Suhasini : Though she had a brief role to play she did her part and added to the movie.
Though some initial reports said the the movie is slow and dragging in the second half, they can be safely written off as you cannot dissect a movie in 1st half and 2nd half , A movie should be watched and reviewed as a whole. Every aspect of the movie is entertaining with the right blends and flavors. A treat for the Audience. Coming to highlights of the movie, everything in the movie is a highlight. there are no negatives to this movie, all plus.
Pawan Kalyan’s Role as Gabbar Singh is simply indescribable and has to be watched and felt by one, as there are no words to describe.

Gabbar Singh. This is a complete Team work by the Gabbar Singh movie crew and cast. Movie like GS can only happen if everyone involved gives their heart to it and they did. harish got the Mass pulse with Ravi Teja’s “Mirapakaya” and stuck with it and it resounded in a humongous scale as Gabbar SIngh. GS makes you jump out of your seats in awe thrill and excitement.

Pawan Kalyan, popularly known as “Power Star” by his fans, has become the screen idol to the young audience since his “Tholi Prema” times and maintain the same status in the hearts of youth irrespective of his flops and failures. The Youth have identified themselves with his characters he played in the movies, which have special style of careless mannerisms and “Damn, Its my Life ” attitude and easy-going fundas. Though Pawan Kalyan had a loyal powerful fan-following, his recent movies, Komaram Puli, Panjaa and Teen Maar were not fared well at Box Office and with young audience too. So, Pawan Kalyan might have decided to regain his glory through a mass commercial flick and agreed to act in the remake of last year’s super hit movie, Dabangg. Thus Pawan Kalyan now came in the garb of Gabbar Singh to set-on-fire the silver screen.
The Story:
Venkat Ratnam Naidu (Pawan Kalyan) flew away from home in his childhood due to a clash with his step father (Nagineedu). Later he joins in a hostel and as he grew up, becomes a Police Officer. Since his boyhood days, he had a great admiration for villains. He prefers villain like Gabbar Singh of Sholay film to Hero and declares himself as the villain. He is a man of all eccentric qualities with care-not attitude and dictates his own rule and law in his police station. He even names his Kondaveedu Police Station as Gabbar Singh Police Station. His dare-a-devil deeds shatter the bastion of Sidhappa Naidu (Abhimanyu Singh), a local Don and questions his domination. Incidentally, Gabbar Singh sees Bhagyalaxmi (Shruti Hassan), a village belle with small enterprise, and falls in love with her. The Power war between Sidhappa and Gabbar Singh starts and Sidhappa plays all tricks and utilises all his strengths to ruin Gabbar Singh. How Gabbar Singh win over these troubles and take revenge on Sidhappa matters the rest of story.
The Performances:
The film “Gabbar Singh”, from start to finish, is the “one man show” of Pawan Kalyan. He fared well as the Circle Inspector to a Police Station, a son to his mother, as a lover and savior of common public. His Character is Tapori-Mass Persona in police garb. As such, the histrionics and mannerisms including his get-up style are matched well with the character. His natural style of arrogance and damn-a-care attitude was totally in sync with the character. Pawan Kalyan has done action sequences and comedy scenes with elan. The dialogues and punch-lines come out from the voice of the hero are, no doubt, feast to the fans!
Abhimanyu Singh as the villain had done well with gestures, postures and stature. Tanikella as the wicked uncle of the villain too done good. Shruti Hassan has nice looks and seemed wonderful in terms of beauty, but not much scope has been given to her to perform. Kota, Nagineedu, Suhasini and Rao Ramesh are ok in their respective roles.
Brahmanandam, as “Recovery Ranjithkumar” has played his routine stuff comedy, while Ali as the Constable Samba (as the Pawan kalyan names him) too had nothing new to offer.
The Technicalities:
Gabbar Singh is the remake of Dabangg, but undergone many changes from the story line to the scenes, to adjust to the image and body language of Pawan Kalyan. In that process, the story had totally focussed on Hero alone, leaving all the other important elements like family drama, emotions and entertainment. Thus, the story has become lop-sided and all other characters, including Shruti and Suhasini have become mere paddings.
As the movie is basically an action flick, the action sequences, chase scenes picturised with the row of Sumos and Rowdies flying in the air to the “Dhishums” of Hero, are very extraordinary.
The un-buttoned Khaki dress and red towel as turban instead of Police Cap wore by Pawan Kalyan to suit the character’s nature with a difference, got the criticism by AP Police Officers Associations.
The Cinematography rendered by Jayanan Vincent is slick and apt to the situations. The colors, lights and shades used by him in Villain’s house and Hero’s Station exhibits the mood of the characters and elevated the intensity of the scenes. The picturisation of songs is distinctly pleasant, especially in the romantic songs.
The Movie’s music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is unequivocally an asset as the audio is already a big hit and “Aakaasham Ammaayaithe” and “Dil se dil se” songs are haunting tunes, while “Kevvu Keka” had become a rage in this season.
Harish Shankar’s direction and pen has done well to tap the mass image of Pawan Kalyan, but failed to balance the story and other characters. He might have a prejudice towards Pawan Kalyan and ignored all other factors in the plot. The “fan” in Harish might have dominated the Director in him. And the dialogues and one-liners penned by him are as powerful as the Hero’s image in the fans.
Sum-up:
Gabbar Singh is a Mass Action Comedy, which lacks the essence of feel and emotion. The story missed the nativity factor, even though lots of changes have been made. There are lot of things, which cannot be connected to the Telugu Audience. There is no resemblance in any manner with the Telugu Milieu in the market set, House sets, Police Station set and other locations.
However, the movie’s package of Action-Fights and loads of Dialogues will definitely satisfies the urge of Pawan Kalyan’s fans and mass audience!
