Not often it turns out that the film’s music director outscores its cast and the director. This is what has happened exactly vis-à-vis 3 which had Dhanush and Shruti Hassan essaying the lead roles. Music director Anirudh’s Why this Kolaveri di… (penned and sung by Dhanush himself) had threatened to take the film to another level only to disappoint later.
The boyish-looking Anirudh, son of younger brother of Latha Rajnikanth (wife of superstar Rajnikanth), debuted as music director with 3 which incidentally marked the debut as director for Aishwarya, Dhanush’s wife and Rajnikanth’s elder daughter. Despite a strong cast, the film has fallen flat at the box-office.
Following the ‘hit’ of the music of 3, Anirudh has been flooded with offes to score music in many films from Kollywood, Tollywood as well as from Bollywood. Believe it or not, Anirudh has a couple of Hindi films on hand. Whether or not he is able to sustain the fame and popularity gained through his first film is something which remains to be seen in future!
