The ‘Why this Kolaveri di…’ song from Tamil movie ‘3′ has become a chart-buster but a PIL filed in the Kerala High Court claims it is having a ‘bad’ influence on children and has sought a direction to prohibit screening of the song sung by actor Dhanush.
Exhibition of the song, produced by Dhanush’s wife, Aishwarya, should be prohibited as it was “badly influencing minds of young children”, petitioner, M Madaswamy, a postal assistant working at Peermede in Idukki and a Guinness Record holder for the longest speech marathon lasting 30 hours and 6 minutes, alleged.
Song with “such violent lyrics” increases aggression related thoughts and emotions and this effect is directly related to the violence in the lyrics as per a new study published by the America Psychological Association, he said.
The petitioner submitted that in a series of five experiments involving over 500 college students, researchers from Iowa state University and the Texas Department of Human Sciences examined the effects of seven violent songs and eight non-violent songs.
Results showed that violent songs led to more aggressive interpretations of ambiguously aggressive words. The violent songs increased feelings of hostility without provocation or threat, it was submitted.
Alleging that ‘Kolaveri’ was also in the category of violent songs, the petitioner said some schools in Tamil Nadu and Kerala were concerned over children singing it. Besides, the boys were using the song to tease the girls.
The influence of Kolaveri and lyrics make students take to violence, the petitioner claimed. The Central Board of Film Certification had granted certification to the movie without taking this into consideration, he alleged.

All is not well at Aishwaryaa and Dhanush’s paradise. If the latest grapevine is to be believed, Dhanush has been avoiding wife Aishwarya at public events, courtesy Dhanush’s co-star and actress Shruti Hassan. Instead of enjoying the success of ‘3’, Dhanush and Aishwarya are fighting over personal issues.
Aishwarya and Dhanush’s relationship are going through rough patch and all this because of leading lady of ‘3’. The proximity of Dhanush and Shruti has left Aishwarya angry. The couple is not sharing good relationship presently.
Their distance was evident at public events. Dhanush avoided his wife Aishwarya at various events. A source said, “Numerous instances in the public forum over the last few weeks have lent credence to the fact that there are issues between the couple. Dhanush, Shruti and Anirudh were on a radio show chatting away happily but the minute Aishwaryaa joined them, Dhanush feigned a headache and walked off the show.”
At the premiere of ‘3’, the discomfort between the two was clearly evident. Dhanush did not arrive with Aishwarya, both of them came separately. At the premiere, Dhanush spend considerable amount of time with Shruti.
When the team stood for a join photograph, both Aishwarya and Shruti looked opposite direction.
Adds the source, “Dhanush is apparently doing his best at avoiding his wife in public and his closeness with Shruti has now become more evident for all to see. Aishwaryaa is said to be upset about the way Dhanush has been treating her.”
Apparently, Rajinikanth who returned early Monday morning is upset with the domestic situation.
