The most anticipated Ajith starrer, Billa-2 has generated about 41 crores revenue from selling rights excluding Kerala theatrical and Hindi dubbing and TV rights. According to sources, this takes Billa-2 to the top spot among the pre-release revenue grossers of all time in the Kollywood.
Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment, the producer of the film has stated that there was a huge interest amongst potential buyers for the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights for the film. However, INE has chosen Aascar considering their commitment on marketing spends and ability to give the film a hassle-free, wide distribution release in TN, he added. Tamil Nadu theatrical distribution rights of Billa 2 was sold to Aascar Ravichandran for Rs 26 crore. The movie will be released simultaneously in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka, apart from other centers.
While the film will be released David Billa – The Beginning in Andhra Pradesh, the original Tamil version will be released in Kerala and the dubbed version of Tamil will be released in Karnataka.

Billa-2, the much awaited sequence to Ajith‘s 2007 super hit Billa, is all set to hit the screens in June.
With fans eagerly waiting for a sneak peek into the songs, Sony Music will present a glimpse of the 4 songs beginning April 25th for the music fans across social / viral platforms and radio. This innovation will culminate into the audio launch on May 1st, a day which incidentally coincides with Ajith’s Birthday!
The symphonic tunes, composed by ace music director Yuvan Shankar Raja have been sung by melodious voices like Stefny, Shweta Pandit, Tanvi Shah, Suvi Suresh, Andrea Jeremiah and Ranjith.

Billa-2 is an upcoming Indian Tamil gangster-thriller film directed by Chakri Toleti. It is a prequel to the 2007 film Billa and would focus on how David, an ordinary man from the coastal regions of South Tamil Nadu, becomes Billa, a dreaded underworld don, with Ajith reprising the role of the titular character. It also features Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Vidyut Jamwal and Sudhanshu Pandey in supporting roles, all of whom make their debut in Tamil cinema.
The film, which is being produced by Wide Angle Creations in association with the Hinduja Group company IN Entertainment, was officially announced in November 2010, with Vishnuvardhan as the director. Due to conflicting dates, he was replaced by Chakri Toleti, while a new script was penned by a team involving Toleti and Eric Felberg. Filming, which commenced in July 2011 and was completed by December 2011, took place primarily at Goa, Hyderabad and Georgia. Billa-2 is expected to release by early June 2012.

Ajith starrer Billa 2 has earned more than Rs 40 crore through theatrical rights and the makers of the film have confirmed.
What is the strategy behind Ajith’s ‘Billa 2′ release?
In Entertainment, a Hinduja group company which has produced Ajith’s ‘Billa 2′ is planning big to release the movie all over the world. The movie will hit the screens simultaneously in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka, apart from other centers.
“Billa 2, currently in post production, is being readied for a summer release targeting simultaneous releases in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala along with North India and international markets,” says an official press release.
It adds: “The film will release as ‘David Billa – The Beginning’ in Andhra Pradesh as a Telugu dubbed version, as Tamil original language version in Kerala and both as Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions in Karnataka. International release and North India release shall be on English subtitled prints in order to generate wider audiences and a larger exposure to Tamil films.”
“All territories have been sold at record prices for any Ajith film till date,” the release says, adding that Sun TV has acquired the telecast rights.
Meanwhile, Aascar V Ravichandran, who will release the film in Tamil Nadu, said, “Billa 2 is a hugely anticipated summer release this year and we are very happy to associate with IN Entertainment for release of the film in Tamil Nadu. It is an Ajith starrer, part of the hugely popular Billa franchise and the first big film to hit screens post IPL this year. We are very excited about this association and are working towards giving the film tremendous publicity, marketing and promotional push in May.”
