The Dirty Picture produced in Hindi filled the coffers of the box office. This film was based on the life of the late actress Silk Smitha. Vidhya Balan donned the role of Silk Smitha. She got the National Award for her best acting in this film.
Vidhya Balan had acted in some obscene scenes. This erupted some problems among some activists who filed cases in the court asking to ban this film. But this film was released midst all these hurdles. When the film was released Vidhya Balan was heaped with laurels. Now this film is to be remade in Tamil and Telugu languages.
Anushka will be donning the role which Vidhya Balan donned in the Hindi version. Earlier Anushka had donned the role of a commercial sex worker. Her acting in Arundhati was much spoken about. Anushka has agreed to don the role of Silk Smitha and the official announcement regarding this will be made in due course.
