The link among the film personalities cannot be traced whatever the level of the people may be. However the grip once greased may run for years together and in some cases the spark may be the origin. This happened to the crew of Thuppaki as the camera director Santhosh Sivan brushed up his mind for a project with Vijay. As the crew is at rest due to the ongoing strike by the FEFSI, both Santhosh Sivan and Vijay had much time to share with and in the end, they have drafted a project talk.
The result is Vijay is all set to work with Santhosh film. Once Thuppaki is completed, Vijay will visit the floors of Gautham Menon’s Yohan Athiyayam Ondru. This means Vijay might prefer Santhosh Sivan after Gautham Menon movie. Recently Vijay expressed his desire to choose only themes depicting the feature characters than the action packed masala formula. However, Vijay has not discarded the usual style at once.
Santhosh Sivan made use of the break in Thuppaki for a documentary movie on the agrarian composition of Malabar lands. Meanwhile AR Murugadoss is said to have decided to wait for the next schedule. And Vijay is still on the happy note of his Nanban success, duly acknowledging the efforts of Shankar. However Thuppaki will see Vijay as a specialist in encounter from the cop field.

It turns out that actor Vijay is playing an ‘encounter specialist’ in his upcoming film Thuppaki directed by A.R Murugadoss. This is the first time that Vijay plays hero in a film directed by AR Murugadoss, easily one of the most successful directors in Tamil and Indian cinema as all his films so far (in Hindi as well as in Tamil) have managed to hit the bull’s eye at the box-office with unfailing regularity!
Vijay’s heroine would be Kajal Agarwal while Tamil and Malayalam actor Jayaram too plays a significant role in the film. Some time back, reports said that the film was ‘dropped’ by Murugadoss who had gone to make a documentary film. Vijay, however, said that “It was a false alarm; the film’s shooting would soon commence after the wage issue is resolved by FEFSI and the Producers’ Council.”
Now that the issue has been amicable settled, Vijay has started shooting for the film, which would be shot mostly in Mumbai. Vijay plays a trigger-happy cop who specializes in eliminating goons and baddies through ‘encoutners’, it is reliably learnt. This is the first time that Vijay plays such a role in his career.
The promos and publicity stills of the film have already aroused interest in the film. The fact that the curvaceous Kajal Agarwal is also part of the film has only made its stakes go up in the distribution circles. In all probability, the film might release in the second-half of this year.
Vijay’s singing spree!
After gearing up for mass commercial movies, actor Vijay decided to keep himself away from singing and it is worth mentioning that he has crooned tracks for other actors as well that includes Suriya. The actor will now get back to the playback singing with his upcoming film Thuppakki and Harris Jayaraj has recorded his voice.
We can expect Ilayathalapathy Vijay to croon a song for his untitled film with director Vijay that has musical score by G.V Prakash Kumar.
ha ha ha… Vijay sings for ‘Thuppaki’
In his initial days as actor, Vijay used to croon a song or two in his movies. Born to a vocalist mother, singing came naturally for the actor and the numbers performed by him turned out to be hits. (‘Dodabeta roadu mela…’ and ‘Adada Alamelu…’ are examples)
And now, the Ilayathalapathy is back in his familiar territory. He has crooned for a number in his forthcoming film ‘Thuppaki’, in the music of Harris Jayaraj. The recording took place at a studio in Mumbai recently.
“Well… Just tried actor Vijay to sing a party track for Thuppaki in Mumbai and he came up with flying colors,” wrote Harris Jayaraj on his microblogging page. Also, director AR Murugadoss has posted a picture of Vijay recording for the track.
‘Thupaki’, an action adventure produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, has Kajal Aggarwal as heroine. On completing this film, Vijay will start working with Gautham Vasudev Menon for another action thriller, titled ‘Yohan Adhyayam Ondru’.
