Recently Appukutty won National Award under the Best Supporting Cast (Male) category and surprised many people. Though, he is appreciated a lot now, his past is not a happy one.
Appukutty’s original name is Sivabalan. In the early part of his life, he was a Cleaner in hotels. He is from a place called Nathan Kinaru. He has reached to this level by hard work only. He got his name, after playing the character named Appukutty, in the movie ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’.
Appu arrived in Chennai 18 years ago. He did not come here in the intention to act in films. Instead, he came here for mere survival. In the early part of his life, Appu was working in a Hotel in Chennai as a Cleaner. Then, somehow he entered films in 1994. From then, he was acting in petty roles.
On speaking about his life, Appu said that, “I did not have any aims to become an Actor. I came to Chennai for mere survival and worked as Cleaner in a Hotel. Few film personalities saw me there and asked me to try in films. Only from then, I thought of trying in films”.
Appu added, “Until now, the going was tough in my life. Of course, this National Award is among the happiest moments in my life.” It is to be mentioned that, just recently, this cleaner turned Actor bought a Swift.
