In a function held in honour of Dhanush, he announced that he is dedicating the song ‘Why this Kolaveri di…’ which was the reason for his recent popularity to Amitabh Bachchan.
Is it not enough for the media to make it big? The media raised the question, “When Superstar Rajnikanth is there, why dedicate the song to Amitabh Bachchan?”
Dhanush’s answer: “It is not right to do such things within the family. I have a great respect towards my father-in-law. I respect his individuality. But it is a big burden for me to be Rajnikanth’s son-in-law. In 2004, I lost my identity when I married his daughter. Whatever popularity I enjoyed before that was swept away by my being Rajnikanth’s son-in-law. I am seen only as his son-in-law.
In any interview the first question I face is, “How do you feel being Rajnikanth’s son-in- law?” After ‘Why this Kolaveri di…‘ song, this question has become secondary. I hope that this question is never asked in future”.
