It was unanimously decided at a meeting of various associations in Tamil film industry, including the Producers Council, Film Chamber, Directors Association, Nadigar Sangam and Film Employees Federation of South India on Tuesday to strike work on 23 February.

At the meeting, it was decided to support a one day all India strike on February 23 to condemn the Central government’s move to impose service tax on entertainment industry.
Speaking to reporters, Nadigar Sangam president Sarathkumar said, ‘The Union government’s deicision is unacceptable since the industry is already suffering from various troubles. This will totally cripple its activities.
