As his Pongal-release Nanban was declared a massive hit, Vijay chose to throw a grand party for media personnel in Chennai on Thursday.
The actor, who turned up late for the event as he was reportedly struck in traffic, was in all smiles.
Speaking about the film and the response from his fans, Vijay said, ‘ all credits should go to director Shankar. It was a rare opportunity to work with a filmmaker like Shankar. I enjoyed every moment of it’.

The movie had no fights, punch dialogues and kuthu songs. Yet Vijay’s fans adored and admired it.
Says Vijay, ‘ it was a welcome change for me. I had been doing masala movies as they were minimum guarantee at the box office. But when a script like Nanban comes to me, I was ready to lap it up’.
He is currently working in Thuppaki followed by a movie with Goutham Menon.
